Product labels for small shops: how to start on a budget

New shops usually produce in small quantities, so fully printed boxes may not pay off. This article shows how to use label stickers that look professional, save money and scale up as sales grow.

Use plain packaging and let the label tell the story

Plain bottles, bags and boxes are cheap and easy to source, and a well-designed label instantly makes them look branded. This lets you use the same container for several products and simply change the label or sticker colour.

Design a system from the very first label

Fix the positions of the logo, product name and required information so every label matches, then use a colour or small band to distinguish flavours or variants. New products can then be labelled quickly, and the shelf looks like one family.

Choose a sticker material that suits the product

Chilled or oily products need waterproof stickers, natural products may suit kraft paper, and premium items can add foil stamping on the logo only. Apply real samples and leave them for several days to see whether edges lift or ink fades.

Leave room for legally required information

Food and cosmetics must show information such as ingredients, production dates and registration numbers, so leave space for it from the start. HUANGJUI Design creates budget-friendly label systems that work across a product range, with files ready for both short and large print runs.
