Naming an online shop so customers can find it easily

An online shop has no storefront for people to walk past, so its name must be both memorable and searchable. This article explains how to choose a name that is easy to type, hard to misspell and usable across your website, social media and marketplaces.

A name people can type as soon as they hear it

Many customers hear about a shop by word of mouth or from a video, then search for it themselves. Names with several possible spellings, doubled letters or invented spellings make the shop hard to find. Say the name to a friend and ask them to type it; if they often get it wrong, adjust it before launch.

Include a hint of what you sell, in moderation

A word linked to your products, such as fabric, snacks or skin, helps people understand you at once and find you more easily. But the name should not grow into an advertising slogan or be tied too tightly to one product, so it still works if you expand your range later.

Secure matching account names on every channel

Before deciding, check that the same name is free on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LINE OA and as a website domain. Matching handles everywhere reassure customers that the shop is genuine and make copycat accounts harder. If the main name is taken, add the same suffix on every channel, such as official or shop.

Make the name work with a logo and a tiny profile picture

On mobile, a shop name usually appears next to a small round profile picture. A short name, or one with a clear initial, is easier to turn into a logo. The HUANGJUI Design team can suggest auspicious, searchable names and check account and domain availability before logo work begins.
