Shop sign Feng Shui: colour, size and placement

From the HUANGJUI Design archive

The archive describes shop signs as important to business and proposes Lu Ban ruler dimensions and materials according to personal elements. Size, spacing and material should suit the shop. It recommends new signs and previously unused wood, metal or acrylic rather than repurposed old signs.

It recommends an appropriate Lu Ban measurement suited to the person and shop, neither too small nor too large, with suitable spacing.

Within the original belief, a sign large enough to cover upper-floor windows is regarded as blocking fortune and adversely affecting trade and staff health.

The archive associates damaged old signs or broken lighting with financial leakage and business decline.

Covering windows and surrounding sides with signs on two or four faces is associated in the original account with division, conflict and disturbance.

Very large, long signs are described as better suited to large buildings, public offices, schools or hospitals than small shops, with Lu Ban spacing considered in the interpretation.
