When to refresh your brand and where to start

An old logo does not always need replacing.

When to refresh your brand and where to start

Start with actual problems

An old logo need not be replaced automatically. List issues such as poor readability, incompatibility with new media or a personality that no longer matches your service. Information layout or imagery may be improved while retaining a familiar logo.

Separate what to retain and change

Identify recognisable elements such as colours, symbols or name styling and plan continuity. Changing everything at once can weaken recognition among existing customers. Define clear reasons and scope.

Plan the transition in stages

List signs, website, profiles and packaging, with shared master files and a launch date. Plan stocked printed materials separately from online media. Test before announcing the refresh so everyone can use the same system.
